    That might be the most detailed wood carving I’ve ever seen. That is seriously impressive! I bet the maker would be proud that their instrument has survived almost 600 years :)

      I read in a journal article, that the rose is actually made of parchment. It looks like wood, but parchment can look the same way, depending on the animal it’s from. And I think it’s treated with a thin coat of varnish, the same as on the rest of the instrument.
