I find it a bit naff, but it depends on where you’ll be wearing it. I’ve worked at role playing conventions and gothic/BDSM nightclubs. I’ve seen this kind of outfit worn at both. The thing with goth-esque styling like this is that you have to own it. I’ve had friend’s who’d wear this to the supermarket for milk and eggs, they wouldn’t care if people weren’t into it, the point was that they were.

Yeah. A black shirt is kinda difficult to pull off imo. A general advice is to have your layers to go from lighter to darker; it’s possible to not follow it but then the fit can easily fall in the “costume” category. Think of a white tie on a black shirt + suit.

I don’t mind the way the fit looks in general, the purple accent is fun, but as is it kinda feels loud to me. The cheap shiny tie + matching pocket square, and a lot of accessories (tie pin AND tie bar, really?) don’t help in that direction.

You’re going to be way overdressed pretty much everywhere. Imo a big part of dressing well is dressing for the occasion. Standing out it a good way is fine, but looking out of place is not usually a good look.

            I mean, being a model is a job…

And after a decent night’s sleep, you dress like what I imagine a bartender at a fancy bar/hotel.

I am an IT guy in the finance sector, and I could also see an excentric hedge fund partner dressing like that.

It looks good, though I would try with a dark blue or a dark green theme instead of purple as purple is difficult color to match.

The vest’s color and texture speaks “countryside” while the shirt, trousers and tie speak “evening in a city”, because one is coarse and the others have sheen or are black

I’d probably swap out the vest for something made out of a smoother material. Also supposedly it’s a faux pas to match your pocket square to your tie exactly.

Try adding a dimple as you tie the tie

The discordant textures isn’t something I considered. Interesting feedback! Thanks!!

Short answer is yes, it’s too Jokerish.

Longer answer is still yes, but how to fix it depends on how Joker adjacent you want to be. Feel free to dress however you want. You can pull off a lot of looks by being confident and comfortable in your outfit. But since you’re asking I’ll share a couple of thoughts about what I would do. Feel free to mix and match based on what you prefer.

Change the black shirt for something else. Something lighter, maybe a lavender if you want to have a purple theme. Your shirt should be the lightest part of your outfit and it shouldn’t match your pants this close. If you really want to keep a dark shirt look, check out pictures of Regis Philbin when he was hosting Who Wants to be a Millionaire. It’s not a look I personally like, but he pulled it off pretty well.

Add a blazer or sport coat, and lose the vest. Vests are hard to do in anything other than a very formal setting. If you want to keep the vest, at least move the pocket square to the blazer.

Change the pants to something like a charcoal grey. Dark grey is much easier to wear than straight black and I promise it’ll look way better with your shoes.

Change the tie or pocket square, they shouldn’t match this much. One of the hard parts of dressing in monochrome is that it makes the color you do use really stand out. For the square, look for something that has purple (or whatever colors you’re focusing on) in it. For the tie, maybe try a black tie. If you want to have solid color (that’s not black) tie, think about trying out a knit tie. I’ve got a black grenadine tie that is really easy to wear with a lot of different outfits.

Lose at least one piece of jewelry accessories. There’s too much going on in too little space. You can still wear some other pieces elsewhere, like a bracelet(s) or ring(s) but don’t go nuts with it.

The chain needs to go, and a different tie for sure. I’m not sure if the black shirt is even a good match because the color is awkwardly different from the pants.
