“Special treatment” means “they almost have it as good as I do.”
To transphobes, equality is an existential crisis. They would either have to change their behavior or lose all their social standing.

My da used to complain that gay folk just wanted to “gay married” “for the benefits.” …benefits like joint health insurance, children being legally theirs, being able to see their spouse in the hospital, etc.
So yeah. What they mean by “special treatment” is “equal treatment.”
That person doesn’t realize we are on a fast track to be just like those countries.
