Hello, we thought this sudden surge in sign-up requests might have surprised you, so we’re writing this message.
We’ve migrated to Lemmy after being forced out of a Korean community similar in theme to r/Piracy. Since there were around 2,800 users who were meaningfully active, the sudden increase in sign-ups might have looked like a raid.
This instance happened to be the first one we found, which is why sign-ups were made here. As we couldn’t find clear rules on DMCA and such for lemm.ee, most of our activity will be happening on another instance.
If we’ve violated any lemm.ee rules, or if this instance isn’t appropriate for our community, or if there’s any other reason we may not be welcome here, please let us know in advance.

Might help you to know that lemmy.dbzer0.com is run by the former head mod of /r/piracy who left reddit a few years ago, and it has the most active piracy community I’ve found anywhere on lemmy.
Agree. Out of all instances, this seems to be the one that’s better for them.

It says on dbzer0 that only top-level domains can be linked and that requesting specific files isn’t allowed.
In our case, when someone requests a file, we’d like to post a direct link encoded in base64 that allows download through a cloud service for a limited time.
I know the encoding doesn’t really mean anything, but it’s more of a cultural thing for us.I guess, sharing like this in clear web is doomed to die these days…
Yeah, I know. I already said I was against it and suggested using Tor, I2P, or Freenet, but they were set on putting it on the clearnet for accessibility. Also, I’m just relaying this in English so people can understand. Anyway, if this isn’t allowed here either, we’ll quietly move on. We’re really not here to stir anything up or cause trouble.
