A rat done bit my sister Nell
With whitey on the moon
Her face and arms began to swell
And whitey’s on the moon
I can’t pay no doctor bills
But whitey’s on the moon
Ten years from now I’ll be payin’ still
While whitey’s on the moon
The man just upped my rent last night
Cause whitey’s on the moon
No hot water, no toilets, no lights
But whitey’s on the moon
I wonder why he’s upping me?
Cause whitey’s on the moon?
Well I was already giving him fifty a week
With whitey on the moon
Taxes taking my whole damn check
Junkies making me a nervous wreck
The price of food is going up
And as if all that shit wasn’t enough:
A rat done bit my sister Nell
With whitey on the moon
Her face and arm began to swell
And whitey’s on the moon
Was all that money I made last year
For whitey on the moon?
How come I ain’t got no money here?
Hmm! Whitey’s on the moon
Y’know I just 'bout had my fill
Of whitey on the moon
I think I’ll send these doctor bills
Airmail special
To whitey on the moon
This song really seems to wound my more liberal friends. They see the moon landing as a self-justifying, noble event that of course was worth every dollar spent.
Ignore that the problems people outlined back then never really got better. Ignore that humanity would have landed on the moon regardless. Just double down on some Reddit-tier reverance for “Science!”

i understand the rhetorical point but whitey was also conscripting people to murder asians.
focusing on the moon landing seems like democrats ~20 years later voting against funding a particle accelerator saying we should spend that money on social programs (and then didn’t do those social programs). there’s plenty of money for science and social programs but the empire demands war and purposely maintains an underclass.
If you understand the rhetorical point then why do you take issue with it?
“no investigation no right to speak”
Trying to criticize Gil Scott-Heron for not talking about Vietnam demonstrates your ignorance of his work, and the context in which it was performed.
I recommend you do some research.
i’m not criticizing him in total, i’m criticizing the juxtaposition device in one work.

I had to recheck the news, I thought fucking Beyonce was on the rocket but I mistook her for Katy Perry.
