I’m not familiar with this comic. Why would a hat mean anything about whether someone is a witch or not?
@Sciaphobia @LolaCat maybe the ears? in the original show (The Owl House) the inhabitants of the magical dimension have pointy ears.
Witches (in The Owl House) are identifiable by their pointed ears. Witches who want to blend in have to cover their ears, or cast an illusion over them
Though this comic is from an AU, in canon the species of these characters are flipped
