I’m graduating next month and I haven’t been able to find a job in my field (biology). I’ve signed up for plenty of internships only for them to either reject me or say they’re not hiring anymore due to lack of funding (thanks DOGE). On top of that, shit’s gonna be expensive when I get out. And then I also reading and hearing about the injustices still going on, specifically the genocide in Gaza it just, I’m exhausted. I need bad things to happen to people in power immediately I’m just so fucking tired.
oh I see the problem, you studied life. declining industry! now death, there’s a growth industry
in my field (biology)
Oh so you’re a billionaire elite? SMH
Joking aside, there is a similar situation all over…
hope we can all make it through this
Biology
Oof. My partner and I are biologists, him with a PhD and me with a bachelors and a few years experience. We’ve both been unemployed since last July. I’ve applied to around 300 jobs now and had like 6 or 7 interviews?
It’s uh, not great out there right now. My best advice is to apply to everything you can find at the university you’re graduating from. Even if it’s not your subfield.
It was already bad, and then the NIH cuts made things way worse.
Yeah I heard about that too. That and the EPA or a similar company getting cuts, it just doesn’t feel like we can catch a break.
If grad school is something in the cards it might be smart to apply to international schools, it’s a good way to get a ticket off this sinking ship
