ICC just for Africans and Putin, ‘senior leader’ told court prosecutor

It appears that statement has turned out yet again to be correct, as genocidal Zionist war criminals continue to receive total impunity in the West.

I will copy a cut version of something I wrote about the ICC a while back:

Alana Tiemessen in 2015 stated that, “While the intentions of using justice as a means to peace have been perceived as legitimate, there is little evidence of successful conflict resolution and deterrence so far.” According to Tiemessen, “…individuals already committing atrocities or likely to in the near future will not be deterred by the threat of an ICC prosecution.”(https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.1177/0047117815601201) In fact, the ICC may actually directly work against the establishment of international peace. In 2023, Serbian president, Aleksandar Vucic, said in response to the ICC’s arrest warrants for Vladimir Putin that, ““I think issuing an arrest warrant for Putin, …, will have bad political consequences and it says that there is a great reluctance to talk about peace (and) about truce.” This discourages peace because it makes it harder and less likely for Russia to broach the topic of a potential peace in Ukraine. This shows that any protection of human rights is ineffective in being protected by the ICC as their actions counter peace being made in Ukraine. According to Jessica Moody in 2021, “…domestic turmoil over Gbagbo’s charges have been one of the key obstacles to political reconciliation.” This clearly makes it more difficult for peace to be achieved by both increasing tension and inhibiting diplomatic efforts. Tiemessen, in 2015, said that, “Ruling elites in states that have referred their conflicts to the ICC have effectively limited prosecutions to their rivals and protected their own impunity but at a cost for their ICC’s credibility as an impartial institution.” (https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.1177/0047117815601201 ) In analyzing the ICC’s role in the Palestinian Genocide we continue to see a deeply flawed situation. Following the ICC’s arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister, Netanyahu, Isabel Kershner, a reporter at the New York Times stated that “Despite deep domestic polarization, analysts said, most Israelis were likely to rally around Mr. Netanyahu’s repudiation of the court’s decision…” (https://www.nytimes.com/2024/11/22/world/middleeast/israel-netanyahu-icc-warrant.html, ) And the truth of the matter is that helping Israel’s current leadership will worsen the undeniable abuse of human rights occurring.
