    Jesus, it’ll be the end of the web if we don’t get a grip on this madness. Just thinking about the wasted energy alone is aggravating.

      Yeah. The Irish Times take on this is that we’re globally embarrassed and I’d agree. You’re spot on about the energy waste too. If we want these data centres then we should put conditions on them.

      My biggest worry is observing a lot of younger (than me) people online for whom the Overton Window has clearly been gradually shifting. People are starting to parrot manufactured rhetoric.

      That wouldn’t surprise me. Between the Forbes article and the Irish Times one, there are definitely targets outside of Ireland. Retailers in the US for example are seeing strange activity from Irish “accounts”.
