On Friday night, President Trump issued a memo directing Attorney General Pam Bondi and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to punish law firms and lawyers that file what the administration views as frivolous or unreasonable lawsuits against the federal government. The memo is widely seen as a way to target immigration lawyers. Former Justice Department official Vanita Gupta said the memo “attacks the very foundations of our legal system by threatening and intimidating litigants who aim to hold our government accountable to the law and the Constitution.” Meanwhile, a court battle continues over Trump’s use of the Alien Enemies Act to transfer over 130 Venezuelan men from the United States to El Salvador after they were accused of being gang members. An appeals court will hear oral arguments today on the case. On Friday, U.S. District Judge James Boasberg called Trump’s use of the law to be “incredibly troublesome and problematic.” The Trump administration is appealing Boasberg’s decision to halt flights under the Alien Enemies Act.

They quietly gave up on the Gitmo idea.

They’ve been locking up and torturing people there for roughly 24 years, some of which may have been terrorists, but you’ll never know because none of them got due process.

They have, but not migrants. They started to try and move 30k people there but gave up because even they realized it was a very bad idea. But not for the same reasons as everyone else figured.

Keeping Track of the 2nd Trump administration!

One thing Donald Trump and the extreme right were very good at doing is burying the track record of his first presidency from 2017 to 2021.

Keep Track is dedicated to literally keeping track, day by day, of the policy decisions made by the new Trump Administration.

That is not to say we’re interested in the crazy things he says or tweets, he clocked over 30,000 lies the last time he was in office, I don’t see how it’s possible to track all of that. This is about POLICY. Nominees, executive orders, signed laws, and so on.

Subject line format should be {{date}} {{event}} so: “01-20-2025 - Trump is sworn in.”

The international date format of 2025-01-20 is also acceptable!

Links should be to verifiable news sources, not social media or blog sites. So no Xitter/Truth/Youtube/Substack/etc. etc.
