If you’re in London then Taxiapp is the one to use; it’s for black cabs and is run by and for them. I always use black cabs if take a taxi in London - the Knowledge is an amazing thing!

Free Now is good and is used by black cabs as well.

They’re the “traditional” taxis in London. The drivers are required to essentially memorise the entire road system of London to qualify which makes them a)skilled labourers and b)much better in terms of getting you to a destination than Uber or equivalent can drivers who primarily rely on Google maps or similar.

They’re sometimes more expensive but generally because they’re quicker (and don’t do “surge pricing” in the same way as “disruptor” firms do) the pricing is pretty comparable in my experience.

for sweden, uber had real trouble entering the market. taxis are very tightly regulated here, cars need to be specially registered for taxi service and drivers need special training, so none of that gig worker business. uber in sweden is basically just a normal taxi company, with no benefits compared to any other. so just get a normal taxi.

A very good app is Liftago when in Prague

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.adleritech.app.liftago.passenger

You can also order a ride via their website. No registration needed.

I used FreeNow in northern Italy few months ago and I found it very reliable. Hope it expands to more countries.

I was in Spain 2 years ago and Cabify didn’t work because it required a Spanish bank/credit card payment. Have they changed the rules since then?

I have friends who were able to use Cabify with non Spanish cards, around a year ago. They probably changed the rules at some point.

I’ve been using Cabify with my British Monzo car for ages with zero issues.
