A thread for discussing the wild, whacky and utterly mundane of life in our isolated corner of the planet.

Ok so I can’t brag too much/specifically because I don’t wish to doxx myself, but my kid totally slayed at the Athletics Championships this afternoon. It was super exciting.

Hopefully nobody got caught in the freeway chaos today.

I was in the traffic jam the other way just from people having a sticky beak… Lots of cars and cops, looked bad 😐

There’s something insulting about 39.4°. Just make it 40 already.

Edit: I take it back. According to BOM, it hit 40.1° at 13:43. Excellent - we did get a 40° day after all.

Went outside to unpeg clothes from the washing line this morning. The welcoming chill air with clear skies was refreshing to walk out to. The intensity of our hot Summers has again abated for the year.

I like it. I know lots of people don’t, but I much prefer 30-40 over rain. I know we need rain and I’m all about getting it and getting it over and done with - returning to the warm. 🔅

I live in a pretty bushy area of Perth, and because of my interest in it, i suppose i’m alert to the changes and pressures on the animals and plants i see around me.

Every summers a bit rough on the wildlife, this summer i’ve had a small goanna/lizard die, a couple small birds, and a baby bird fall from its nest strangled by the plastic fibres the parent had made the nest from.

3 out of 4 of those i suspect heat had a lot to do with the deaths, i suppose the bird chick might have been different.

This is of course only atbmy house, plenty of others dead by the roadside as i go around.

So thats why i’m always a bit fanatical about the cooler weather, seems stuff dies less.

Some weird shit going on in the sky tonight.

Two lit up objects coming from the West travelling East in the sky one a little behind the other, then both travelled south a bit, then carried on east, before turning north and disappearing into shadow, only to appear where i first noticed them.

I thought planes, but they seemed to high up, or far away, like they’d have to have been out over the Indian Ocean kind of distance i’d imagine. But also, no discernable lights, they faded in and out like satellites do when they dissapear behind the shadow of the Earth.

Anybody got any ideas what i saw?
