I thought fuel was relatively cheap in that part of the world? I would have figured battery tech would be super expensive, unless they’re doing everything with lead acid batteries?
The article says the new rickshaws use lithium iron phosphate batteries and cost $3600. That’s still double what a gas model costs, but the price is coming down. The high initial price is offset by lower operating costs. I’d assume lead acid batteries are still cost effective for those wanting an electric rickshaw on a tighter budget.
