Videos should be in English, or not require any knowledge of the language for an English speaker to understand. Foreign-language videos with English subtitles are allowed.
Preferably, videos are of high production value and should be informative & entertaining. Other kinds of well-produced and thoughtful videos are allowed. Niche interests are allowed if it can be enjoyed by someone who has no previous knowledge of the subject. Music videos are discouraged, there are already plenty of communities for those. If you are unsure, message a moderator.
If a video is a few seconds longer than 5 minutes, it should still be okay. If it approaches 11 minutes, it had better be a very good video. Send the video to a moderator to find out if it can be posted. Videos that are 6 to 10 minutes long should be posted to !quickwatch@lemmy.world.
Comments that expound upon the subject of the video and offer more information are highly encouraged. Comments that link out to long-form content, including longer videos with additional information related to the parent video, are allowed.
