That’s what I thought when I heard Gnome supports custom CSS: that I could customize its looks with many properties like a webpage. I did a bunch of searches about how to inspect gnome elements and you use Looking Glass, but its not quite like browser dev tools which show the whole DOM like this and with a CSS editor. I stopped since it seemed like a lot of work.

    nope, generally speaking they’ve been reducing the amount of css you can tweak.

    The reason being is that CSS has many error prone properties and many people would report issues due to their css changes. increasing the development overhead. but look into linux ricing if you havent. there are DEs designed for this kind of thing. but you wont find generalized application support, and they wont be comparable to websites.
