Introduced in 1951, the MiG 17 remained on frontline duty with many Warsaw Pact countries and heir client states well into the 1980’s.     I always found the design of that aircraft amusing: They strapped a cockpit to an engine, and called it a day.

      They then improved the design on the 19 by making it two engines.

      They reached the peak with the 25 where the engines got so big, it’s still the fastest interceptor in history.
