Regardless of what happens in the auction, it will still take until the 19th for it to close. I understand changing the DNS will screw up a lot of federation features, but at this point it seems inevitable right?

Can they really not reach out to the domain owner? If they’re not dead this seems a bit malicious.
From what I understand of the domain registrar it’s too late even if they were able to get into contact. Once it’s up for auction it’s essentially already sold, but it can be “sold” to the same owner if they win the auction.
they’ve moved to chapo.chat but it’ll take time to federate and stuff from what ive heard. I don’t think they intend to contest the auction since it’s clearly going into silly amounts of money for what is essentially an oldschool NFT
The current status as I understand it is that chapo.chat will have the same problem around june because the same absent admin controls that domain too, so a new domain will be needed.
