This is one of my favorite parts of AI, is how not only is it consistently hilarious, it is only hilarious when it is 100% not meant to be hilarious. In a world without capitalism we would be using AI to generate absurdist humor content all over the place and it would be amazing. Instead we use it for…whatever this is intended to be used for.

Best I can tell, all they’re really doing with this Google search gemini shit is taking the top few search results and feeding it into gemini with the query and being like “find the answer to the question within this information.” But since Google has been such trash for so long now we’re getting all these amazing responses that the LLM could probably answer just fine on its own. It’s so weird that they’re just publicly stabbing themselves in the foot like this.
