my partner’s bird fucking laughs – he knows it’s something people do when someone says something funny so he laughs to be part of the conversation. how do you manage to miss something so core to being human that a fucking bird picked up on it?? I know narcissism is borne out of trauma but it never fails to blow my mind. laughter is so deeply human that it’s one of a small number of gestures that transcends all languages. even chimpanzees laugh.
