I fucking hate reddit, did you know ?
You know, it’s funny. I have a lot of trouble taking a side on the China debate–on the one hand, I don’t trust Western media at all; on the other hand, I’m not prepared to trust Chinese media sources fully either, and I don’t know where to look for a source that doesn’t have a dog in the fight, so to speak.
But when it comes to Hong Kong, I know exactly where I stand: it’s part of China, and should always have been. The fact that there’s even a distinction is a result of truly abominable actions taken by the Western powers. Britain wanted to sell fucking opium in China, and when they weren’t allowed to, they showed up, killed a bunch of people, and stole money, land, priceless cultural artifacts, and an entire fucking city in addition to forcing their opium to be sold there. And then the other Western powers killed more people to get in on the thievery.
And now not only does the West have the fucking gall to push an anti-drug line throughout the fucking world, but even after Hong Kong was returned to China, they think they have the right to dictate how it should be run? Like, what the fuck?
most of the protesters in HK don’t want to HK to be independent you can google it
