Germany’s Navy says there was "no deeper message” in the choice to blast the famed Imperial March — Darth Vader’s theme song in the “Star Wars” films — from one of its warships as it cruised down the River Thames through London.
It’s not like Germany surrendered and then all the fascism went away the day after. Occupied Germany remained a deeply fucked state well into the 1970s. And the hollowing out of the East German economy, following unification, only threw gasoline on the dying embers of far-right extremism.

And “Psycho Killer” is just a song. But if I see a guy wearing a hog’s face as a mask and brandishing a giant meat clever walking towards me while singing it, maybe I feel a little uncomfortable.
