Desantis is younger and doesn’t have the same propoganda spewed about him.
Trumps base are pretty antivax. Trump pushed that vaccine hard. Desantis has a better track record with covid.
Still Desantis has little chance unless trump goes to jail or something. So I don’t think he’s scared.

DeSantis is also quite young for a politician - in his forties.
Desantis has far less baggage. And at least so far he is running to Trump’s right. Good direction to go for the primary.
And to me that could even mean that he is something of a deep state approved candidate - he postures hard on the culture wars, but he is going to be dramatically pro-Israel and you can see him even being more interventionist than Trump potentially.
