    The great Japanese warlord Oda Nobunaga is often depicted in fiction as wearing one of these nanban-style breastplates because of his interest in European trade and artifacts. I don’t know that there’s any contemporary evidence for him wearing one, but it’s an interesting bit of media trivia!
