He’s a well-known part of Jack Black’s band, Tenacious D, which definitely isn’t niche. They go back and forth saying each other’s names during many of their songs.
maybe in 2006 when their movie came out, these days that’s a “what? who?” unless you’re really into their niche. Most people don’t know the names of band members of bands they don’t personally follow and have never knowingly heard one of their songs.
