    Huh so the sword that Sevarian uses in Book for the New Sun, which has a flat top, has a basis in reality

    Do we have a translation for the engraving? The closest I’m able to get anything out of is Latin(using online translators, and trying the V-for-U swap in places), which is coming out to “And the world is flesh”, which I’m assuming is wrong(I also have no clue what I’m doing).

    It anyone is interested in the subject, I recommend checking out The Faithful Executioner by Joel F. Harrington. It’s the biography of a 16th century German executioner with lots of cultural info and details from his own journal.
