It’s a dumb dick measuring thing. The windshield is the biggest windshield in the industry (even though you can’t see out of the bottom quarter of it lmao), and the wiper is the biggest wiper.
All that nice glass, it’d be crazy if some fine sand happened to blow in the wind right onto the windshield next to the wiper blade. That would be such a shame.
