This is true of Haz but Maupin at least was at one point (he was since kicked out after a scandal exposing him as a creep) associated with the CPI which, whatever you may think of Maupin, does do some decent work occasionally. But yeah, these people and their fan base do have an overinflated sense of their own importance.
