    That’s one way to find out it’s a x4 slot. I wonder why manufacturers dropped the open ended x4 slot that could still fit a full size card in.

      2 guesses:

      It’s cheaper to mass produce 1 type of slot vs 2.

      Consumers look at the 4x and think they’re getting cheated. 16x “looks” better.
