In the wake of Apple Vision Pro being released, I'd like to remind everyone about a project that started around 3 years ago and appears to still be developed actively

Appears to be Project Esky, though it’s for something called a Northstar headset, which I’d never heard of before.

Northstar seems to be a 3d printable AR headset of sorts. I am intrigued, though need to research it more.

Thats correct- like many open source projects, it appears to have gone through one or more confusing name revisions. Nonetheless, the github page indicates that there’s been a push as recent as 3 months ago.

Here is an alternative Piped link(s):

Piped is a privacy-respecting open-source alternative frontend to YouTube.

I’m open-source; check me out at GitHub.

QuickTime doesn’t support some formats that are popular with that, but like the iPhone / iPad, devs can submit other media players to the App Store.

Vision Pro doesn’t even have a VLC port submitted to the App Store, but it also shipped less than a week ago.
