The president sought to solidify his standing with the key Democratic bloc — and cement the state’s first-in-the-nation status.

For me, Biden is president because of Trump.

He was coming in 5th and 6th place in the 2020 Democratic Primary until the invisible hand forced everyone to drop out at the same time.

They could have put Burnie up and blocked what they didn’t like in Congress and had 8 years of presidency, but no.

I’m expecting this next election to have record voter turnout if Trump somehow is allowed to run. Both sides really don’t want the other guy.

Nah, Trump’s policies were crap. Still are. Biden’s are much more in line with my values. For me, that’s why Biden’s president.

It’s so weird for him to be praising them for elevating him within the intraparty contest when he’s now running essentially unopposed. “Thank you so much for helping me defeat those other Democrats.”

The actual people he needs to be thanking now live in Georgia, Arizona, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania.

      True…

Joe Biden didn’t just compromise with segregationists. He fought for their cause in schools

Given that he veeped for Obama, it’s fair to say he’s evolved a bit on race. At least better than the average guy his age

I have a dream, a dream where we can elect a president who was born after black people were allowed to use the same water fountains as white people.

That’s not difficult to do either. I’m 35 and I was born 25 years after that, which means we could elect someone 60 years old and they would fulfill that requirement. And yet…

Yes, he’s become so not racist that he was able to stomach hanging around a black guy in exchange for a springboard to the presidency!

In case the sarcasm wasn’t clear enough: accepting the VP position indicated nothing but his ambition to be president.

Ah yes, no one ever changes over time and no one’s views have ever updated over the years. Never.

This was 50 years ago. I’ve changed my opinions on a lot of things and I’m 33. I really hope I don’t have all the same positions on every single thing for the next 50 years or I’ll likely be left behind.

You realize of course that’s far, far more normal, right?

Also, in 1981, he gave an interview explaining it; differing from todays arguments. His actions on civil rights have always been nuanced.

To me, between comments like “if you don’t vote for me, you ain’t black” and his nuanced record… it’s far more likely he just doesn’t say the quiet part out loud.

Is he as flaming racist as the average Republican? No. But, that’s like saying you’re less of an asshole than Hitler.
